Willpower can be described as the capacity to withstand fleeting cravings and wishes in order to attain long-term objectives. When we consider power of will, the initial thoughts that come to mind include the struggles which necessitate us to stand up to craving, such as declining chocolate cake or abstaining from making online purchases.

Researchers conducted a willpower study involving the Marshmallow test in which each child was told that the researcher had to step out of the room for a few minutes, and if they held out during that time, the child would receive two marshmallows upon the researcher's return. However, if they couldn't wait, the child could ring a bell, and the researcher would come back, giving them just one marshmallow. The research team followed up with these kids years later and found that those who waited long enough to obtain two marshmallows generally had better life outcomes even up to 30 years later.
